Social stimulation and social interaction remains very much a part of our resident’s everyday life. With a few exceptions, accommodation in a care home cannot be bought or rented like retirement housing. Think of them more like full-board hotel accommodation with 24 hour care available. A care home is a residential setting where a number of older people live, usually in single rooms or hotel-style suites, because they need regular or continuous access to care.

Staff followed policies and procedures to protect people from harm and abuse. Systems were in place to make sure lessons were learned when incidents took place. Risk assessments and guidance were in place to minimise the risk of harm to people. Safe recruitment procedures were in place and there were sufficient staff on duty.
People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. However, further work was needed to ensure decision specific mental capacity assessments and best interest’s decisions were recorded when people lacked capacity to make their own decisions. At the last inspection in June 2016 we rated the service 'Good.' At this inspection we found the evidence continued to support the rating of ‘Good’.
If this service has not had a CQC inspection since it registered with us, our judgement may be based on our assessment of declarations and evidence supplied by the service. We reviewed the information and data available to us about Elizabeth House on 8 December 2022. We have not found evidence that we need to reassess the rating at this stage. At other times we offer an answer phone service so please leave a message and we'll call you back. We have therefore encouraged every provider to open their ‘online windows and doors’ to help you make an informed choice. The profile score is a measure of how much information has been provided.
